This photo is taken from the foreshore at the northern end of the lake. The Nelson Lakes National Park Visitor Centre, and National Park Headquarters is only a five minute stroll
away.

St. Arnaud Range - the bare (brown) hill above the dark green of the beech forest is covered with snow all winter.

Mount Robert (approx 4650 feet high - 1500m). Like the St. Arnaud Range, the top half of this mountain is normally covered in snow all winter.

Lake Rotoiti, approximately 8km long, is the second largest of the lakes in the Nelson Lakes National Park, and the source of the Buller River
(which flows to Westport on the west coast over 100km away). It is at about 2000 feet (about 680m) above sea level.
